Timo Meilinger has successfully completed his bachelor's thesis "Designing a stamp system for e-mails to price the attention of the recipient" at INSicherheit. In his work, the idea of Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Hof, Head of INSecurity – Ingolstadt Research Group Applied IT Security, and Stanley Chow developed a concept for a stamp system for e-mails. This is a novel approach, whereby the sender of an email, the recipient of the message "pays" for its attention. The "payment" is made by reusable stamps. Thus, the recipient of the stamp can use it to send a new message with it. This is a balanced ratio of messages received and sent. This makes it more difficult for spammers to send en masse promotional emails.
